Upon arrival in Helsinki, you will be privately transferred to your hotel. Helsinki is a city that has adapted thoroughly to its high latitudes. Its great nightlife and cosy interior designs everywhere mean that Helsinki is a pleasant place to be, even in the land of the mid-day darkness. Socialising with their people is no hardship either, the Finns are the best educated, best clothed, best housed and best fed people on earth.
Spend the day exploring sights such as the star-shaped Suomenlinna Fortress, and the numerous saunas, museums, galleries and restaurants.

Transfer to the airport for your domestic flight to Kemi. Upon arrival in Kemi, a local representative will receive you at the airport and bring you to your hotel. This day is free for you to explore on your own. Make sure to visit the traditional Finnish sauna located within the hotel itself.
In the evening, you will be served a delicious three-course dinner at the hotel.

Wake up to Christmas Eve with a traditional Finnish breakfast buffet before heading outdoors for your first Arctic adventure. This morning, you’ll be visiting a husky kennel, where you’ll learn about the training of Siberian huskies and mushing. Then, head out on an exhilarating dog sled ride in the breathtaking wilderness.
Next stop is to Ranua Wildlife Park. You’ll take a one-and-a-half hour journey through Lapland’s peaceful, snow-covered countryside to get here. At the park, you’ll be taken on a guided walking tour through the park to observe Arctic wildlife such as polar bears, lynx and wolves.
Look forward to a memorial Christmas Eve night, as you are greeted back at the hotel with freshly baked gingerbread cookies and a warm mug of tasty glögg, a Nordic mulled wine served during the holiday season. Then tuck into a specially prepared festive Christmas Eve dinner buffet, which includes Finnish specialties. Making a special appearance at dinner are Santa Claus and Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer. Good boys and girls (adults included) can expect to receive a present from Santa!

Spend Christmas Day in the capital of Finnish Lapland – Rovaniemi, just one-and-a-half hour’s drive from Kemi. Your first stop is to a Lappish reindeer farm, where you can learn about reindeer herding and Sami culture. You’ll get to take a ride in a reindeer sled, and even learn how to drive it yourself. There’s a short test afterwards, and if you pass the test, you’ll receive a reindeer driver license!
Before leaving the farm, partake in a unique Lappish ceremony of crossing into the Arctic Circle.
Next stop is Santa Claus Village. Here you’ll get to meet Santa Claus and his merry elves busy at work in Santa’s workshop. Enjoy lunch in a local restaurant in Rovaniemi, and spend some time buying souvenirs before heading back to your hotel in Kemi.
Continue your feasting with a hearty Christmas dinner back at the hotel.

Day six promises you even more unique experiences. After breakfast, you’ll head out to the Sampo Icebreaker. On board the ship, you’ll be given an interesting presentation of icebreaking techniques as well as some history on the vessel. You will then tour the control room, massive engine room, as well as the bridge to see the captain command the vessel.
After lunch in the ship’s cosy on-board restaurant, you’ll take a dive into the freezing waters for an arctic swim. You will of course be equipped with a survival suit which keeps you warm as well as afloat. Here’s your second chance to receive a diploma, as everyone leaving the ship will receive an icebreaking diploma.
This evening, enjoy a three-course dinner at Meripirtti Lodge, a private restaurant located by the sea. Enjoy the serene atmosphere as you dine in a calm oasis, surrounded by nature and the sea.

The adventure doesn’t stop as you go on a four-hour snowmobile safari today. This exciting tour takes you across the Bothnian sea and the river Kemi delta region. Part of the tour includes a stop for some hot berry juice, as well as lunch, served in a cozy “kota” by open fire.
After lunch, try your luck at fishing through a hole in the ice. Enjoy your remaining time in Kemi, doing any last-minute exploration, or heading to the sauna.
