The perennial question – Why do we travel? For some, it is a break from the routines of work and everyday life; for others, it’s a way to learn about new cultures; and yet for others, it’s just a way to get away from it all. Quotient TravelPlanner\'s team and our clients share their photos and stories in this section and invites you to send in your contributions. We currently feature 14 cities and experiences shared by our clients in this section. Send us a captioned picture of you on your travels and we"ll post them up here to share with the rest of the travel community.

Round The World with Tan York Sin: Osaka

Osaka,Japan

Shinsaibashi is in Chuo-ku of Osaka and is the city’s main shopping area. The Shinsaibashi Shopping Street runs for about 580 metres and has a good mix of established and trendy stores. I walked from one end to the other, and had to walk back … because my hotel was near the starting end.

The Osaka Castle, shown in the background, has a 400-year history. The Main Tower serves as a History Museum for Osaka Castle and houses invaluable historical materials.

I travelled from Osaka to Kobe and spent half a day there with my good friend Chu, who happened to be there a few days for official duty, with his family. Kobe’s Chinatown, also known as Nankinmachi, is a rather small Chinatown, but offers a nice atmosphere and some good food. We had Kobe beef there for lunch, of course. The pretty girl in pink beside me is his daughter Lavinia.
