Destination of Choice: Finnish Lapland, Sweden, Norway
Our trip to Scandinavia was great with many first–time experiences and we really appreciate all the planning that was done to make them all possible!
A visit to the Santa Claus Village in Rovaniemi is a must as it will definitely bring out the child within you. Meeting Santa himself was a delightful experience and we simply love the postcards from the Santa post office!
Next up is Sweden which is an extremely charming country. We visited Stockholm where we walked along the nostalgic old town – Gamla Stan, visited the Royal Palace and were impressed by the rich history of the Vasa that sank on her maiden journey in 1628 and was only salvaged in 1961. We also had a closer look at the early lives of the Swedish when we visited Skansen which is the world’s oldest open-air museum.
The trip to Kiruna had been most memorable and of course, freezing cold! It was there that we had our first dog sledding experience and had an awesome time playing with the huskies. Riding on the snowmobile to the wilderness cabin was another exciting experience. Our snowmobile even got stuck in the snow and luckily the guide was there to our rescue! A night in the ice hotel was a really interesting experience that we will never forget and we even have a diploma to certify that we survived the night in a -5 degree Celsius room!
The Norway in a nutshell tour is also worth mentioning as the sights were stunning and breathtaking. The fjords, pictured against the white landscape, were simply majestic.
Thank you for much for the awesome experience and we look forward to our next trip with you
Have a blessed new year ahead!
